Tameo Kits’ latest release (TMK 445) is the gorgeous Benetton B186, winner of the 1986 Mexican GP. This is a frequently requested kit and we are delighted to be able to present an entirely new kit, showcasing our latest design and manufacturing processes.
The sturdy box contains a mix of cast metal and photo etch parts, full colour instructions, two decal sheets, rubber tyres and a selection of detail parts and wiring.
Opening the bags and considering the parts, it is immediately apparent that while this is a curbside model, it is a highly detailed one, with much of the internal detail of the engine and radiators included due to the ‘high cooling’ configuration of the bodywork.
A closer look at some of the parts.
Moving to the main body casting, the B186 shape, and the specific configuration for the Mexcian GP are perfectly captured.
Another angle on the body casting.
For the Mexican GP, the right side pod is completely open, providing a window into the turbo-charged BMW engine. To this day, the most powerful engine in F1 history.
On the left, the body grill is accurately represented as sharply cast metal.
As we consider some of the detail parts, the care and attention to detail in this design is evident. Here the instrument panel includes cast bolt heads and wiring / fuses.
The main castings for the engine and transmission, again exhibit high levels of detail – even in areas that may be more difficult to see after completion.
The rear of the transmission.
Radiator plumbing is all included.
The instructions provide full assembly and painting guidance for the model.
The model even includes turned metal electronic connectors!
Photo etch parts are perfectly manufactured, with the rear wing endplates illustrating the high level of surface detailing.
And the decals! We start with the trademark ‘brush strokes’ for the top of the engine cover.
The broader decal sheet provides all markings, perfectly – and colorfully, printed.
We conclude this review with images from the instructions at the conclusion of the project.
We trust modelers will appreciate this kit of the B186 and enjoy assembling the model as much as we enjoyed designing it!
